Its a date!!!

Picture
Victoria's Secret will open its first UK store, on London's Bond Street, on July 25. The following day will see the launch of the brand's Westfield Stratford store, just in time for the Olympic opening ceremony on July 27. The Angels will almost certainly be in town en masse for the launch - with even new mother Alessandra Ambrosio hoping to be there.

"Refused"

Picture
He may be a juror at the Cannes Film Festival now, but designer Jean Paul Gaultier has revealed that there was a time when he couldn't even get in to the prestigious event.
"I have been refused at the Festival de Cannes," he told the Today show. "Yes! First time, I was in a tuxedo but with shorts. Black. And second time I was with a kilt with tuxedo. Refused again. But the third time, I came with Madonna - I was in bed with Madonna... she was like my passport, so I got through it."
The weekend saw the most star-packed events so far - including Giorgio Armani and Sean Penn's charity ball in aid of Haiti. Diane Kruger, Cheryl Cole, Gemma Arterton, Natasha Poly, Petra Nemcova, Sean Penn, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Douglas Booth, Gerard Butler, Naomi Watts,  Jane Fonda, Bernice Bejo, Ewan McGregor and Lily Cole all stepped out in their couture finest to celebrate cinema's biggest achievements.

New store?

Picture
Victoria has plans to open her first standalone store in London.
"People say, 'Am I going to have my own store?' I would love to," she said. "That's what I'm working on at the moment. It would probably be in London, but in the not-too-distant future maybe it will be Hong Kong. Who knows?"
She says that she has her sights set on expansion in the eastern markets, as well as in the UK and the US.
"What I do really is not just focus on the US or England," she toldCNN. "I mean there are a lot of territories that are really big for me and Asia is very exciting. I'm just scratching the surface at the moment. I want take baby steps with this business; I don't want to run before I can walk."

Shes not on the list?

Picture
Kate Moss is not to be included in a Walk of Fame built in her home town, Croydon, may have come as a shock - but you can change that by voting for her. The supermodel, unarguably the town's best-known export, is currently not included in the 10 shortlisted names compiled by civic leaders.

VOTE FOR KATE HERE

Croydon councillors are planning a new town centre pathway, featuring a "portrait bench" with three life-sized effigies of local characters chosen by residents who best represent "their culture and history". Current shortlisted names include comedian Ronnie Corbett, composer Samuel Coleridge and actor Dave Prowse who played Darth Vader

Fords move!

Picture
Tom ford has sold his home in London's Mayfair for an undisclosed sum.
Ford, who also owns properties in New York, Los Angeles and New Mexico but spends most of his time in London, bought the 8,222 square-foot Georgian townhouse in 2004 for £5.75 million. Three years ago, the Sunday Times reports, he placed it back on the market - presumably improved markedly by his taste and attention to design detail for £45 million, but failed to find a buyer.
He has since been spotted house hunting in South Kensington.

Temperley john lewis

Picture
Alice temperley has created a collection for John Lewis, her first ever for the UK high street. Named Somerset after the designer's home county, the range will have a focus on essential pieces - and was created very much with the Temperley woman in mind.
The 60-piece collection - set to arrive in John Lewis stores nationwide and online on September 4, accompanied by campaign images starring Lily Donaldson features a version of all the signature Temperley pieces that customers have loved over the past decade: from her leopard-print knits and floaty boho dresses, to Victoriana blouses and military jackets.

Rosies Lingerie

Picture
Rosie Hufington Whitley is turning her hand to design for the first time, by creating a lingerie collection for Marks & Spencer - the high-street chain that she is currently the face of. The Victoria's Secret Angel's range, entitled Rosie for Autograph, will land in stores in September.
The line comprises 33 pieces including silk lingerie sets, camisoles and French knickers and a kimono-style robe. Many pieces will come covered in rose prints in soft tones and some will feature deco-inspired detailing - giving items a Twenties feel. The model first began working for the British brand for its autumn/winter 2011-12 campaign, starring alongside actor Ryan Reynolds.

Moss for sale

Picture
Kate Moss has donated a portrait of herself for a charity auction in aid of the NSPCC, to be held at Bonhams on May 17. The photograph, which was taken by Sølve Sundsbø, has a starting price of £3,000.
The image is part of the auction house'sPhotographs sale, during which 11 lots will be sold to raise funds for the NSPCC and its Rebuilding Childhoods Appeal - which provides therapy for children and young people who have suffered abuse. Other donations include portraits of stars including Florence Welch by Nadav Kander;Valentino by Martin Schoeller; Twiggy by Barry Lategan; and Damien Hirst by David Bailey.
"We are delighted to be working with the NSPCC to offer this exciting group of photographs for auction and to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause," said Bonhams' head of photographs Jocelyn Phillips.

Beckham Forgets

Picture
Victoria Beckham may juggle four children, two fashion lines and a host of other projects admirably - but that doesn't mean she's immune to a scatterbrain moment.
"Oh my God, you know what I did the other day?" she said. "This is a funny story. I got up in the morning, and I knew that I had a whole morning full of conference calls. So I got up early with Harper, sorted Harper out, got all the kids their breakfast, got them ready for school, put Harper in the car seat, and said, 'Come on, kids, we have to get going or we're going to be late' - every morning I take Brooklyn, and David takes the little boys to school. We take it in turns because they go to two different schools.
So I jump in my Range Rover, put the car seat in, put my iPod on - obviously very important - and I drive to school," she told VANITYFAIR.COM. "And then I realised, I'd left Brooklyn in the kitchen. I was driving along, talking away, and all the sudden, I looked at the front seat, and I was like, 'Shit! Shit! I've forgotten something!'
I'd gotten down the road, and I literally had to turn around and drive back up the driveway. And David was standing there in the driveway with all three boys, just [shakes her head]. And I felt like such an idiot because I was in such a rush. Harper was in the car, I was in the car, and we were on the way to school. But we did not have the child who needed to go to school." I LOVE VICKY!!!

Smythson's new boss

Picture
Smythson has hired former Burberry chief operations officer Andy Janowski as its new CEO. Janowski - who has been a member of Smythson's board for the past 18 months - takes over the CEO duties from Smythson's owner, Jacques Bahbout, who also serves as the label's chairman.
Janowski was chosen for the role due to his "deep understanding of the luxury consumer" and "innate ability to drive a business". He began his career in 1989 at Banana Republic, later moving to Gap as its vice president of production and supply chain. In 2006, he joined Burberry as senior vice president of supply chain and was promoted to chief operations officer in 2009.
"The opportunity to join such an iconic British luxury brand and build towards fulfilling its tremendous potential is extremely rare," said Janowski. "Smythson's remarkably rich heritage and reputation presents fertile ground for growth, and I am very much looking forward to working together with our team to broaden the brand's horizons."

Yohji turns director

Picture
Yohji Yamamoto is following in the footsteps of Tom Ford and creating his first feature film. The designer, who will direct the project, has already commissioned a scriptwriter and plans to have the film completed in the next two years.
"It's very secret," he said during a talk at Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography last weekend.
Although Yamamoto appeared as the subject of fashion documentary This Is My Dream, which was released last year, his directorial debut will not focus on himself. The designer also added that he doesn't like creating film costumes.
"I don't want to kill the characters of the actors and actresses with my ego," Yamamoto told WWD. "[Costume designers] have to know which fashions and which trends were running at which time, so their knowledge of past clothing is sometimes better than ours."

Johnny and me

Picture
KATE  MOSS says that Johnny Depp was quite the gentleman when they dated in 1997, recalling how he used to insist that she always stayed with him at his grand hotel in Paris - rather than her own less glamorous city flat.
"When I was with Johnny Depp, he always stayed at the Ritz," said Moss. "I had an apartment in Paris at the time, but he said, 'No, we're staying at the Ritz,' so he came by and swept me up to the Ritz - he didn't want to slum it in my apartment!"
Talking in the April issue of US Vogue, as part of a feature and photoshoot dedicated to the glamour of the Ritz Paris, the supermodel highlighted one of her favourite parts  of the hotel - its cocktails, how can you not love kate!!!

Erdem talking

Picture
Along with many of his designer peers, from Christopher Kane to Marc Jacobs, Erdem has been mooted for the Dior job  but he refuses to be drawn into fashion's ongoing pressure on young designers to leave their labels and join established fashion houses.
"Anything like that is a compliment," the designer told us last night, "but you just have to concentrate on your job and what you're doing."

Fashion milestone

Picture
Israel has become the first country in the world to pass a law banning models deemed "malnourished" from appearing in campaigns.Every model photographed for advertising images which will be used within the country must produce a medical report, dating back no more than three months, before they are eligible to take part in the shoot. In addition to this, images appearing in magazines will be given a mark to signify when they have been digitally altered to make the model appearing in them look thinner

A vogue education

Picture
JASON WU has revealed that, as a nine yea rold Taiwanese immigrant arriving in Canada, he learned more than aesthetics from Western fashion magazines like Vogue.
"When I moved here, a lot of immigrants from Taiwan and Hong Kong were moving here as well. It was an interesting time. I didn't speak a word of English, but I had this tutor named Muriel   Muriel Kauffman. I wasn't so interested in text books, so she gave me a pile of fashion magazines and sort of taught me English through there," he said. "I liked the pretty pictures. I just wanted to read more about what I was seeing."
As well as being engaged by the images, Wu acquired his first sewing machine upon arrival in Vancouver.
"That was really when I first started sewing," he told Canadian magazine Montecristo. "I didn't have money for fabric; I just had all these little snippets. So, I made clothes for dolls, instead."
